Supervising Minister of Education, Barr.
Ezenwo Nyesom Wike on Thursday met with the leadership of the Academic
Staff Union of Polytechnics, ASUP, to resolve pending issues that led to
the strike by the polytechnic lecturers.
The
closed-door meeting which lasted about one-hour, was productive as the
grey areas that led to the strike were discussed and agreements reached.
The Supervising Minister of Education,
Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike stated that with the progress made at the
meeting, he was confident that that Polytechnic lecturers would soon be
back to the classes.
He noted that the Jonathan
administration remains committed to the welfare of all staff of
educational institutions at the basic and tertiary levels, pointing out
that education remains priority in the Transformation Agenda.

Asumogha thanked the Supervising Minister for the proactive measures he
has taken to resolve contending labour issues in the education sector.
He described the meeting as productive, saying Nigerians will hear from ASUP in no distant time.
